Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I love February and Valentine’s Day. I love the pink, the hearts, and the galentines of it all.
When it comes to books, I crave a complex story. I need intrigue, many moving parts, unexpected twists, and heartwrenching moments. But at the core of it all, I need a good romance. To me, it’s the emotional heart of the plot that keeps me engaged.
So what better time than Valentine’s week than to celebrate my favorite fictional couples? This is no particular order, but I’ll be sharing the couple with some of my art, and a sticker I designed that I think best summarizes them.
Percy and Annabeth from Percy Jackson and the Olympians/ Heroes of Olympus
The sticker:
I believe people on the internet call Percy “The King of Romance”, and I stand by that title. This kid jumped into hell for Annabeth, what else is there to say? Their romance takes place throughout many books, but when it finally happens, Percy proves to be the pinnacle of a book boyfriend. No one will ever live up.
Cress & Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles
The sticker:
I could write an essay about why I love their story. This is the story of a girl who idolized this man, only to realize everything she idolized in him she had in herself too. On his side, he never thought highly of himself, but then wanted to be the man she thought he was. Their story is silly, adorable, and sweet, and it is such a fun illustration of two characters growing together to be their best selves for each other.
Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows
The sticker:
I’ve described Six of Crows as a competition for the saddest backstory, and this romance (if you can call it that) is just a side plot in that story. These two characters care for each other deeply but their past traumas create barriers that keep them from fully connecting. Throughout the series, they make slow, meaningful progress, and every step forward is so pure and heart-wrenchingly sweet.
Inej deserves better than Kaz, but I’m happy for them regardless ;)
Will and Tessa and Jem from The Infernal Devices
The sticker:
This series might be the only acceptable example of a love triangle. I read this back in 2017, and so I don’t remember all the details, but the way this series makes you care for every single character in the triangle, want the best for each of them and feel satisfied with the conclusion is quite a feat. While I was ultimately team Will and Tessa, this series had me understanding you can truly love multiple people and it does not detract from each other.
What are some of YOUR fictional couples? Please leave a comment below - tell me who they are, what series, and what you love about them!

Till next time!

I am also a FourTris shipper ❤️🔥🎡
Theirs started pretty unconventional given their Dauntless status.
But throughout Tris’s initiation, they slowly grow to respect on another this leading towards trust that transitions to friendship.
There’s also the factor that Four aka Tobias, is incredibly emotionally guarded due to the abuse he suffered from his father, deceit from his mother, & his birth faction that failed to protect him.
Tris, whom hails from the same birth faction as Tobias, also struggles with her intimacy due to the customs she’d been taught there.
The more time they spend together the more they understand each other in various layers of intimacy that their friendship turns to a romance that’s built on trust, respect, & safe to be oneself with each other.
Whether on the field of battle or their own relationship, FourTris has a surprisingly mature romance compared to others.💞
Well I too am a Kanej shipper 🐦⬛🗡️
Their romance is very unique cuz their connection is magnetic. Whereas other couples normally touch by hand holding, hugs, & ofc sexual intercourse, these two can’t even get so close as to a high 5 (even if they did that sort of thing) cuz of their traumas.
For Kaz it’s what happened to him & his brother that would cause his haphephobia (fear of touching people)
For Inej it’s being a victim/survivor of sex trafficking.
Part of the reasons they understand each other, but equally frustrates them both as they desire to be close but struggle to overcome their fears.
Their desire for each other is heightened by emotional & intellectual intimacy which is just as romantic, possibly more, as one understands what the other is thinking, but at the same time, both their ideologies/beliefs clash depending the situation at hand whether it be a heist or their relationship.💘
